Dog walking: After spending my adult life working in animal welfare and sheltering, my priority with dog walking is keeping the dogs in our community happy, healthy and appreciated members of their families. Dogs with an excess of energy can become frustrated, leading to destructive behavior or continuous barking. Relieving this energy in a healthy way, such as walks or playing ball, allows the dog to relax during times when he can't be physically active. And while dogs enjoy the thrill of experiencing new sights, smells and experiences on their walk, they also gain health benefits (such as cardiovascular and musculoskeletal) from moderate exercise just as humans do. But dog walks aren't just about burning physical energy. Going for walks gives dogs a chance to explore their environment. Allowing dogs to sniff and enjoy the experience is very mentally stimulating for them. For some dogs, this mental exercise has just as strong an impact on them as the physical exercise itself.
Hiking: For the adventuresome dog! There's little better than getting a curious dog out for a long hike. Out in nature, away from all the same old backyard/neighborhood sights and sounds, your dog will truly have a fun adventure! Come home to a happier, healthier, better-balanced and very tired dog!
Pet Taxi: Do you need your pet driven to doggie day care, their owner in an assisted living facility, the groomer or a veterinarian appointment? If you are too busy during the day to be a chauffeur for your pets, I'm here to help! I am also able to provide transportation to an emergency veterinary or specialty hospital.
Pet and Farm Sitting: There are many benefits to forming a relationship with a pet or farm sitter to care for your animals in your absence. Keeping your pets and livestock in their own environment eliminates the stress of moving them to an unfamiliar kennel or boarding facility. When they remain in their home, feeding and bathroom schedules can be followed as usual, and they do not run the risk of being exposed to other animals, which can be stressful and runs the potential of exposing them to disease, fleas and other parasites. I am experienced in administering medications, injections and fluids, as well as being pet CPR certified. In addition to the well-being of your pets, I can also water your plants and flowers, put the trash out, bring in your mail, packages and newspapers and rotate the lights to minimize the appearance that no one is home. Please note that I am not able to offer overnight services in your home at this time.
Meet and Greet: A complimentary meet and greet is required prior to scheduling appointments. This gives us a chance to get to know each other, I can become familiar with the animals and their surroundings, and we can discuss any concerns or special requests you may have. We can work together to create a schedule which can include any mental and/or physical activity you would like your pets to receive in addition to general feeding and tending. This initial introduction will last an average of 20 - 30 minutes.
